  Use a recent version of GCC.

  To be honest, I don't have $5K to spend running a Solaris box.  And
Solaris is weird enough that typical Posix practices don't work there.
So it's a low priority.

  If you fix it, please send a patch.  Until then, there's really
nothing we can do.
