Quite.

TBH, if a distribution can't be bothered to keep it up-to-date or
support their own users I'm beginning to wish they wouldn't ship
FR at all...

Sounds like you've got three options.

 - Compile up and use a development version.

 - Backport the correct patches and compile up the stable version.

 - Live without it.

If you're backporting it, do everyone a favour and go up to at
least 3.0.11, so you'll get a lot of other bugs fixed as well :-)
