Dear Alan et al

Many thanks for your comments.

In response to your questions:

  We need:

a) description of what you want it to do

I would like that a user being it mpulis (on local ldap server:
seminary.local) or jborg (on AD server: seminary.ad) be able to
authenticate against freeradius. The AD is back_ldap'd to Openldap server
as per:

radius at radius:~$ ldapsearch -h localhost -b dc=seminary,dc=ad -D
"cn=admin,dc=seminary,dc=local" -w Pass '(cn=Joe Borg)' memberof sn mail
givenName SAMACCOUNTNAME uid posixAccount cn
# extended LDIF
#
# LDAPv3
# base <dc=seminary,dc=ad> with scope subtree
# filter: (cn=Joe Borg)
# requesting: memberof sn mail givenName SAMACCOUNTNAME uid posixAccount cn
#

# Joe Borg, School, seminary.ad
dn: cn=Joe Borg,ou=School,dc=seminary,dc=ad
cn: Joe Borg
sn: Borg
givenName: Joe
memberOf: cn=Teachers,ou=School,dc=seminary,dc=ad
SAMACCOUNTNAME: jborg

# search reference
ref: ldap://ForestDnsZones.seminary.ad/DC=ForestDnsZones,DC=seminary,DC=ad

# search reference
ref: ldap://DomainDnsZones.seminary.ad/DC=DomainDnsZones,DC=seminary,DC=ad

# search reference
ref: ldap://seminary.ad/CN=Configuration,DC=seminary,DC=ad

# search result

result: 0 Success

# numResponses: 5
# numEntries: 1
# numReferences: 3
radius at radius:~$

b) what the server is actually doing.
