This is a slightly subtle question.<br>

Peap inner methods must be, and are interpreted as, eap. So "none", pap, chap and plain mschap will never work. From your debug the client is ignoring your choice in those cases and just doing eap-mschapv2. So it's basically a ui problem on your client.<br>

Eap gtc is a valid choice because it's eap. But freeradius is naking it because I guess you've not configured gtc on your eap module.<br>

So yes, fr can influence choice of eap method, but that's not what you're seeing except for gtc.<br>

If you get into what the Microsoft spec for peap days then things get even more puzzling but everyone seems to ignore that anyway, so I won't bother cluttering up the discussion...<br>
