Because if you read the REST of the "configure" output, you'll see
that it's testing for MULTIPLE versions of the client libraries.
Ok, I assume you are right. the make and make install went great but how can I check if effectively the oracle support is ok ? and finally how to replace my existing version (2.1.10 installed trhought yum(fedora)) ?
