Do this here with a local repository, and don't have a problem.
Currently running a fairly recent 2.x with some cherry-picked
patches.

Giving version numbers you're dealing with (upgrade from, to) and
any appropriate debugging/console output might give people here
more to go on than guess what the problem is.
