Update! it may be related to the radwtmp file as when I restarted the daemon it complained of file size exceeded when I started in debug mode. deleted that file and it started fine.

I am having a problem with freeradius 1.1.6 crashing unexpectantly.
 
Only once has it given the error

As of yet I have no idea what might be causing this.
