dhcpclient - Linux raw socket code does not exist anymore ?

In 2014 I submitted a patch to dhcpclient which allowed the use of Linux raw sockets:

But  in the current 3.0.x HEAD the code does not exist anymore. :'(
Has it been removed on purpose, or is it a mistake ?
