Startup problem with ldap

  Can you attach to the process with gdb, and print the output of "bt"?
That would help figure out where the problem lies.

  Ok... so it's likely not a permissions issue.

  Probably because it's in single-threaded mode.  What happens when you
start it as root with "radiusd -xxf" ?
