failure to compile 2.1.1 on Redhat ES3

I comment out  these lines in src/main/listen.c:

Hope that is OK. And all works without these lines ?

  Read "listen.c".  Go to line 99.  See that it contains the word
"assert".  Delete the entire text, all the way to the closing ")".
