no wait exec scripts end up as defunct zombie process

Alan,
Further to below, this issue does not happen to wait for response scripts.
Also it appears that it has no effect if the service is under load or not.
In both situations it creates zombie processes.
Has anybody else who use no wait exec scripts experience it?
The scripts take around 0.1 -> 0.001 seconds to execute.
