I’d love to hire someone experienced with FreeRADIUS for a few hours to help me in the initial setup (via screenshare) and to understand the MySQL table structures, as I need another app to interface there. I’m an experienced coder but new to RADIUS concepts. I’m working with hotspot authentication.

This would be a good entry for the FR wiki. Unfortunately I don't have
much to contribute there anymore.
If you can share what problems you have, others might be able to help
you on this list. For example, the best guide I find for Ubuntu
(debian should be similar) is actually
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4pn7-nXBOY . Read also the comment
(which links to FR wiki)
The table structure should be pretty much self explanatory. Is there
anything in particular you're looking for?
radcheck (or radgroupcheck) -> user/password, quota limits for
rlm_sql_counter, etc. Anything that needs to be processed by FR.
radreply (or radgroupreply) -> framed ip address, or anything that
needs to be processed by the NAS (i.e. your hotspot AP), or that the
NAS needs to know (e.g. bandwidth limit).
