Hi Alan, the first one about failed connections stopped to appear after I
installed 2.2.4, and now we have the second about deadlock. Truth indeed
the DB is still on a share MySQL server, and will be moved to a dedicated
one in a couple of weeks.

  Those messages indicate issues with the database.  They should be
fixed, rather than ignored.

  Those messages indicate problems with the database.  As Arran said,
nothing changed to account for this.

  I'd suggest ensuring that your database is fast enough to handle the load.
