OSX can do EAP-TTLS/PAP - which is what was being discussed. 
note that recent versions (since 10.8) require the enterprise config
tool - you cannot just go through 802.1X settings anymore - and pre 10.7
you couldnt define secure 802.1X settings (cert/server trust values)
