Alan,
You are a star. Never would have guessed for hw error.
Updated the firmware on the EA2700 and voila, all working.
Now to lock it down and create student guides.
Might come back for more though..

The guide is intended to cover ONE issue at a time. There's no real way to write a guide which covers everyone's configuration.
