  It's not that complicated.  The failure is in not checking for themselves if the bug is fixed:

Q: Hi, I'm using version X of software foo-bar, and it has a bug.  What do I do?

A: Uh... the release notes for version X+1 says "fixed the bug you're talking about".

  It's the belief that we're supporting the software we write.  Coupled with the belief that it's easier to ask questions than to actually do anything yourself...
