Freeradius 3.0.15 failing to read server.pem file

Hi Matthew! Thanks for the assist. :)

I am also a linux newb. In lieu of figuring out how to change it so freerad has access to those files (should, used to work), I changed the radiusd.conf to our root username and then tried to run freeradius -X and got the same results. :(

Does the "freerad" user have permission to read that file? I'm guessing
not.
