How to deal with switches not sending User-Password attribute for MAC-based authentication

Hi Alan,
Thanks for your reply. Full debug is below. I guess I wanted a way for
FreeRADIUS to send a request to my REST API and make sure that it was
sending the User-Password attribute as well since my REST API expects that
field in order to validate it. That REST API is basically a Go micro web
server that, depending on the various RADIUS attributes received in the
HTTP request from FreeRADIUS, will determine if it's being asked to
authenticate an Access-Request coming from the OpenVPN server on pfSense, a
Raritan KVM, or a cluster of WiFi APs and then contact the appropriate
backend (LDAP server or PostgreSQL server) to make a go/no-no decision.
So far I was using this section to redirect auth requests to the REST API:
if (User-Password) {
update control {
Auth-Type := rest
}
}
But from what you're saying I may have been approaching it in the wrong
way. Maybe I should stop trying to provide a User-Password attribute to the
REST API when there isn't one and should just send all requests to the API
server regardless and let it itself handle cases where there is a missing
User-Password attribute.
