Execute sql inside other modules

Hi, I'm writing a module on accounting section that write UserName and SessionTime in other table, and I need to run same sql statament inserts or select, but I don't understant how I can do it inside a module. Can any help me? I think that I need to use radius_xlat function, same body give me an example? Thanks Toto
