If 1.1.2 comes out anytime soon I think it shows very good progress! I'm wondering what is on the list for a 1.2 release? -frank

I agree.

I'm thinking of gradually pulling the features from the CVS head into the 1.x branch. They've been tested for a while, so they *should* be OK. I don't want to release a 2.0 until the CVS head has a few critical things fixed, but the features *should* be used. My suggestion: 1.2.0 = 1.1.2 with autoconf changes ... And then continue with pulling in changes. I don't think it's hard, it just takes time. But before 2.0 comes out, I'd like a suite of regression tests... Alan DeKok.

I was just thinking the same thing. It's a shame we couldn't get sponsored by Google SoC, it would have been a good project. Not that we could have gotten anyone to work on it. :\ -frank

I think half of the work has been done in 1.1.1 because the differences with the Makefiles in CVS head are minimal. The autoconf upgrade shouldn't be very hard, but it'll take time because there're a lot of configure.in files. -- Nicolas Baradakis

I agree. The hardest part for me in the CVS head was fighting with the *completely* retarded GNU libtool archive. The installation instructions refer to files that don't exist in the archive... Alan DeKok.
