Upgrading from 2.2.2 to 3.0.1
Hello, Some upgrade questions. I am on CentOS 6.5 and I've built 3.0.1 packages using: http://confluence.diamond.ac.uk/display/PAAUTH/FreeRADIUS+specs+and+sources+... I am wondering if it is possible to upgrade 2.2.2 to 3.0.1 (using these rpm packages). Is the configuration (as is working in 2.2.2) compatible (with 3.0.1)? Is 3.0.1 acceptable/proposed for production servers? The server is currently being used for eduroam and macauth (with ldap backend). We are planning to use it for DHCP too. Thanks, Nick
Hi,

no. the configuration is NOT compatible. You need to construct your FR 3.x configuration based on knowledge and configuration of the 2.x system
Is 3.0.1 acceptable/proposed for production servers?
yes - 3.0.2 should be out very shortly. alan

Thank you, Where can I find full configuration documentation for version 3? As far as I have found, practically all FR documentation, deployingradius and wiki pages seem to describe configuration based on version 2. (I hope I am wrong.) Are *configuration* and unlang changes from v2.x also documented somewhere? (*Not* by scanning the version changelogs. :-) ) Thanks, Nick

The existing documentation describes FreeRADIUS. Most of it applies to v1, v2, and v3.

raddb/README.rst All of the changes from v2 are documented. Alan DeKok.
Hi,
Where can I find full configuration documentation for version 3?
same as v2.x mainly - in the configuration files. most of the documentation for 2.x is close to what you need for 3.x - with the main changes being eg pool connections for sql/ldap and the LDAP module which has changed a lot

For future reference, I've put a link and some explanation on the main web site: http://freeradius.org/version3.html Alan DeKok.
