Missing error messages in detail log reply files
Dear Colleagues! I am Freeradius server operator and have a problem with setting up proper logging with Freeradius. The problem is that we cant see the error messages in the detail log file. We would like to see, for debugging. For example we make 3 connection trial with the test user, called 'bob' which is enabled in /etc/raddb/users file. And we can not set up detail log to make this information appear in the reply-detail log. I commented out attr_filter.access_reject module in the in the /etc/raddb/sites-enabled/default, in the Post-Auth-Type REJECT subsection, but log files remained the same: Tue Jan 8 13:17:07 2019 Packet-Type = Access-Accept Reply-Message = "Hello, bob" Timestamp = 1546949827 Tue Jan 8 13:17:12 2019 Packet-Type = Access-Reject Reply-Message = "Hello, bob" Timestamp = 1546949832 As I found &Module-Failure-Message attribute in /etc/raddb/policy.d/filter, I put this into /etc/raddb/mods-config/attr_filter/access_reject, but nothing happened. The error reason can show up in the /var/log/radius/radius.log if the auth = directive is set to yes in radius.conf For example: Wed Jan 2 09:35:58 2019 : Auth: (55) Login incorrect (pap: Cleartext password "hello3" does not match "known good" password): [bob] (from client localhost port 0) This shows the scenario is not impossible, but detail log is not enough verbose by itself. Are you using those features? If not, they're just warnings. They can be ignored.
Do you have a list about necessary packages to solve dependencies mentioned above?
Are you using Redis? No? Then don't install any redis dependencies, and ignore any warnings about not finding Redis packages. The same goes for every other warning. If they were serious problems, they would have been errors, and not warnings. Alan DeKok.

As CentOS has only v3.0.13 freeradius package release currently, I have

compile it by myself. However, there are a lot of dependencies not installed and couldn't find the containing packages.
After I have run ./configure I got the following warnings:
Are you using those features? If not, they're just warnings. They can be ignored.
Do you have a list about necessary packages to solve dependencies mentioned above?
Are you using Redis? No? Then don't install any redis dependencies, and ignore any warnings about not finding Redis packages.
The same goes for every other warning. If they were serious problems, they would have been errors, and not warnings.

The code is correct already. Maybe it's not added to the control list. Try update reply { Module-Failure-Message := &request:Module-Failure-Message } or otherwise put a "debug_all" in the postauth to see where the attribute has been put. -- Matthew

The code is correct already. Maybe it's not added to the control list.
Try
update reply { Module-Failure-Message := &request:Module-Failure-Message }
or otherwise put a "debug_all" in the postauth to see where the attribute has been put.
