Hi I'm working on 802.1x implementation(cisco 2950, freeradius, ldap), i face a problem. First of all, defining users and passwords in users file in raddb works well with md5 authentication. Then i tried to use ldap, then with radtest i get accept-accept packet. But while authenticating from xp client with md5-challenge, I got Auth:rlm_ldap:Attribute "User-Password" is required for authentication error. In one of the e-mail you said don't authenticate from ldap, but with radtest function i get success!!! The passwords are kept clear text. I'm looking forward to getting your help. You set Auth-Type := LDAP. Don't do that.

Which OS are you running on? Is it 64-bit? What CPU? The libradiusclient code MAY be doing MD5 incorrectly.

That looks like a bug in libradiusclient. The Service-Type attribute should be 4 bytes of data, not 8.

The libradiusclient code MAY be doing MD5 incorrectly.

That looks like a bug in libradiusclient. The Service-Type attribute should be 4 bytes of data, not 8.

Yes. I _think_ that this is the bug that chris fixed in freeradius-client 2 days ago. Try using a current snapshot of freeradius-client instead of radiusclient-ng and see if the problem is solved. You set Auth-Type := LDAP. Don't do that.
error. In one of the e-mail you said don't authenticate from ldap, but with radtest function i get success!!!

In ldap when I leave radiusauth type empty, eap authentication works. radtest and xp client are unsucessfull. when i set it ldap, rlm_ldap can bind username and password for radtest but unsucessfull for xp client. The radius debug logs are below. Am i missing a point ?

rlm_ldap can only *AUTHENTICATE* PAP requests. Since you've over-ridden Auth-Type (as you've been told not to) you're trying to force an EAP request through it. Don't set Auth-Type If you want to use EAP-MD5, your LDAP directory will need to contain a plaintext password and be configured to pass it to FreeRadius, because EAP-MD5 needs the plaintext password. Do you have that?

rlm_ldap can only *AUTHENTICATE* PAP requests. Since you've over-ridden Auth-Type (as you've been told not to) you're trying to force an EAP request through it.
Don't set Auth-Type
If you want to use EAP-MD5, your LDAP directory will need to contain a plaintext password and be configured to pass it to FreeRadius, because EAP-MD5 needs the plaintext password. Do you have that? - List info/subscribe/unsubscribe? See http://www.freeradius.org/list/users.html
