Hi, Are there any plans to provide DHCPv6 functionality any time soon? All the best, Nick

If there's significant demand for it, or the work is sponsored, yes. According to Alan D the state machines and operation are similar to IPv4, so shoehorning it into the existing framework shouldn't be too bad. Out of interest who would be interested in DHCPv6 or SLAAC functionality? -Arran Arran Cudbard-Bell <a.cudbardb@freeradius.org> FreeRADIUS Development Team FD31 3077 42EC 7FCD 32FE 5EE2 56CF 27F9 30A8 CAA2

In one project I had it desireable, but not required. I have a hunch we'll see more of it in next two years or so, as IPv6 comes to end user. Regards...

I can't conceive any situation where SLAAC would be useful. It's not a request/response attribute/value protocol in any event. DHCPv6 of course would be just as useful, in theory, as DHCPv4. Sadly there are cases when DHCPv6 is not usable for reasons of bugs, etc. but those will die off with time.

It would be to do something similar to Alexander Clouter's SLAACER, snooping on Neighbor Solicitations and Neighbor Advertisements. Similar rationale to the proto_arp module. Arran Cudbard-Bell <a.cudbardb@freeradius.org> FreeRADIUS Development Team FD31 3077 42EC 7FCD 32FE 5EE2 56CF 27F9 30A8 CAA2

Ah, a listener rather than generator. For me, not useful. Maybe for others.
Hi, useful for smaller networks but for larger space unless you've got a leg onto eg segment... alan
