Excluding traffic from one ip in accounting
Hi All, We have a couple of streaming servers in our network. We would like to exclude the traffic from these servers to client from accounting. How we can do that? We tried to put a filter in accounting section when interim accounts is processed. But in interim accounts, only the data usage is receiving. It doesn't have any ip information in those. How can we achieve this. Please suggest. -- Randeep Mob: +919447831699[kerala] Mob: +919880050349[B'lore] http://twitter.com/Randeeppr http://in.linkedin.com/in/randeeppr [image: --] Randeep Raman [image: http://]about.me/Randeeppr <http://about.me/Randeeppr>
You haven't mention what NAS using. This is again totally depend on the NAS you using. NAS has to support this feature. Or you can use work around solution, mark these traffic, calculate it and then subtract from total usage of radacct records of that particular user. Regards Vijay A. Thanks for the reply Vijay, We are using Mikrotik Cloud core router/NAS. Does it support this feature? It doesn't support this feature. But suggested workaround can be used. One more tip : you can also calculate which ip used how much data on your streaming server also. What streaming server you use ? Can be more helpful to suggest you . Regards Vijay A. They are not really streaming servers Vijay. They have hardware encoders Like Ericson and Elemental. How can we track the usage and subtract it? In mikrotik you can simply mark packet in mangle section based on streaming server ip and client ip , this way you will get usage of marked packets in bytes which can be fetched by using mikrotik API. Thanks a lot Vijay. Will check this out. Is it possible excluding these ips from accounting in mikrotik itself? Something like bypassing? Till now there is no support for bypassing IP pools from accounting in mikrotik router os. It may come in future versions. Mean while there is no such standard i have heard of to bypass traffic from accounting. Rather there is implementation of service based accounting approach which can be achieved on high end NAS. Hi Vijay, What we are trying to achieve is this. We have iptv service in out LAN. Also we are providing internet. Streaming servers are in LAN. So we dont want to account any traffic which is happening via LAN. We just need to account what is going out. Any idea how we can achieve this? I am pretty much aware of your scenario :-) Solutions i have already suggested you in earlier mails.
