Hi All, I need help with the below error freeradius.service: Main process exited, code=killed, status=11/SEGV Yesterday we got alerts that most of our radius servers restarted after some investigation this is what I got, from here I am unable to determine what exactly could have caused this. Hi Alan, There's not really much to it. Yesterday our monitoring systems reported that most of our radius servers restarted after I did some investigation this is the error code I got that killed the radius processes - freeradius.service: Main process exited, code=killed, status=11/SEGV #Signal 11 (SIGSEGV, also known as segmentation violation) means that the program accessed a memory location that was not assigned to it. That's usually a #bug in a program. - freeradius.service: Failed with result 'signal'. - Started FreeRADIUS multi-protocol policy server. After I did some googling all I could find is what the error means but no clear explanation as to why it happened. Have you heard about the “dmesg” command? Try “dmesg | grep radius” just to see if the crash is really in the FreRADIUS or is related to some other linked library. Other than that, take a look at the option “panic_action” in radiusd.conf e.g: https://github.com/FreeRADIUS/freeradius-server/blob/v3.0.x/raddb/radiusd.co... Which version are you using? Which is your system? -- Jorge Pereira jpereira@freeradius.org

Then there's no solution. The reason we write documentation is that we hope people will read it. The documentation includes instructions on how to get additional information.
After I did some googling all I could find is what the error means but no clear explanation as to why it happened.
i.e. "I refuse to follow the documentation, but I will look up random nonsense on the internet". Either follow the documentation, or understand that it is impossible for us to help you. Alan DeKok.

Hi Alan, This is the first time I'm using this method of troubleshooting, if you can just point me in the right direction, where is the documentation you would like me to follow/read and I'll try and explain it better in a way you can understand and help. It helps to read messages to the list. I pointed you to the GitHub issues page. You can open an issue there. The template includes links to all of the documentation you need. Read it. Follow the instructions. Doing so will get the problem solved MUCH faster than the alternatives. If you're not using 3.0.23, you should also upgrade. Packages are available at http://packages.networkradius.com Many OS distributions ship versions of FreeRADIUS which are many years out of date. We're not particularly interested in debugging issues which have been found and fixed years ago. Alan DeKok.
