I compiled OpenSSL 1.0.2k from source with make. Then I make install'ed it. Just because "apt-get install --only-upgrade openssl" and I hadn't thought of using apt-get to install an older version. I'll try to rebuild it with the disable-openssl option next monday. It wasn't documented in the "custom install" section Install.rst of the source download... Thanks for the detailed info.
