Send Reject When User Logged In Already
Dear Users, In my test environment I use a Mikrotik RB333 as NAS and FreeRADIUS 2.1.7. How can I make this Simultaneous Use Checking Queries work? Although I uncommented simul_count_query in dialup.conf I cannot see any difference and users can still logon simultaneously (radwho displays same users twice as connected). I do not want to FreeRADIUS to query NAS (with SNMP etc) in order to know if user is connected, I want simply use this sql queries and send a reject packet if user seems connected in RADIUS. Should I write a stored procedure for authorize_check_query and send reject if there is a record of this user in radacct table which has a null acctstoptime? Meanwhile NAS sends accounting packets successfully and RADIUS receives them. I am really stuck! Dear Mr. Alan, It's a pleasure to get a response from you. I have read the document several times. There is some point I cannot make clear. The document says: 1. PREREQUISITES : You need to have perl installed. Why? I do not want to query the NAS against the user attempting to connect to see if it is connected already. The only data I want to consider is radacct table. I added Simultaneous-Use:=1 also but no luck. I can only limit the user by writing a custom stored procedure for authorize_check_query. Inside this procedure I check the radacct table if there is a record of this user with a null int acctstoptime. It works. But I want to understand why simul_count_query does not work, although I uncommented it. This might be -and probably it is- a newbie question but I am really confused. How can I make the Simultaneous Use limit work, without writing custom stored procedure and without installing perl to query NAS? Perl is for the checkrad.pl script. If you don't run it, you don't need Perl.

Is it being *used* at all? What do you see when you run the server in debugging mode?

If you: a) receive accounting packets b) configure the SQL module to store data c) set 'Simultaneous-Use := 1' somewhere Then it should work. As *always*, run the server in debugging mode to see what it's doing. In 2.1.7, you can use "raddebug". Alan DeKok.

If you don't want checkrad.pl to check with NAS (ie only look in the radacct table) set nastype as other in clints.conf. Ivan Kalik Kalik Informatika ISP
