I tried without the terminating slash and the same errors occur. The user i'm compiling with has access to all those directories. "./configure --help" doesnt have all the mysql switches listed. where can I find all the configure options for mysql support in FR? Thanks. could you try without the terminating slash on the paths. also, are the paths readable by the user you are running ./configure as?
