However, I do not understand the technical details of Alan's suggestion. On the one hand side, he does not like specifying parameters twice with CPPFLAGS and LDFLAGS, which I can understand. On the other hand side, he wants me to test something which is related to CPPFLAGS, LDFLAGS and so on - and this means that parameters have to be given twice???
