I get the same message when using openldap: rlm_ldap: performing search in ou=users,ou=radius,dc=mydomain,dc=com, with filter (&(uid=example)(objectclass=radiusprofile)) rlm_ldap: No default NMAS login sequence rlm_ldap: looking for check items in directory... Does it need fixing for OpenLDAP too?

Delete that entry from raddb/users. It's not necessary, and it's not in 2.0.x.
It won't help solve this problem, but it may make a difference in the future.
