Likely because of version numbers, etc. If you re-build && install *one* module, it might not work. If you install everything from the same source tree, it should work.
That's what I did, though (installed everything from the same source tree). As I just wrote, I'll get back to looking at that after I'm finished getting 2.0.3 doing everything I need (authorizing for multiple services).
