I'd had a similar "segmentation fault" when i'd try to use the sql module and the freeradius installation doesn't include the mysqlclient libraries. I've installed the libraries on the system, reconfigure, make, make install again and it works fine!

It is not because the database is not there because when I connect to it "manually" it works.
