Re-starting the daemon again brings the operation back to normal.

Any help for fixing this issue would be highly appreciated!

I've seen similar problems with freeradius on Debian (no LDAP involved). That's why i changed "reload" to "restart" in the logrotate snippets. Never had a single problem sincle. hth, Michael
