Please explain why you would prefer to follow third-party instructions that talk about a version YEARS out of date. Even if it *is* referenced in doc/rlm_sql, it's obvious what you did. You installed the server, and then BEFORE trying to see if it works, you spent a lot of time mangling the installation. It's like buying a car, and then tearing it to pieces because the fat kid down the street gave you some "cool ideas". If the car doesn't work after that, don't complain to the dealership. They'll laugh at you, and then charge you tons of money to fix it. Alan DeKok.
