Hi people,
Nowadays we have two instances of FreeRadius using the latest 3.0.8 that it's configured set to InstanceA and InstanceB and the NAS servers have configured each instance like a redundance/fail-over.
But it's expected more then 1 million of connections by day in the next month. And I would like to hear suggestions about what I can do to improve the services.
Advices and suggestions are welcome! -- Jorge Pereira
Hi, 1 Mconnections/day is 11 connections/s in the average. Peaks should go up to several 100s conn/s. Please check if your setup (FR, database, accounting) can deal with this load. I have seen simple setups that can take some 100 conn/s. So this should be not problem. But test it. On the other hand: If you have several RADIUS servers, just put a loadbalancer before it (see: Linux Virtual Server and ldirectord or keepalive) and you will not have any problems. Loadbalancers are really good when operating such a setup. Just phase out one server for maintenance.
