It definitely is configured to proxy the request to my server. (We are not the first ones having this service, there are more than 100 I think that already have this. So I trust those peaple managing the "outside central server" when they say it it configured...)
Well in this case: ask the other guy to do the test again and at the same time, observe your own debug log. You'll see the request coming in (I'm going to assume you have sorted out firewall issues in both directions) and why it gets rejected.
