While using Debian/Ubuntu as a base might save you some hassles, there are serious limits to their approach. To run a productive FR server, either compile yourself or get .debs from https://networkradius.com/freeradius-packages/
That's why we provide the packages. We want to have people use the latest releases, so those packages are available for free. And unlike RedHat, we don't charge you money for providing 5 year-old software.

Now i can only speak for Debian.
From above link, there are no sources available, i would like to have a look at the debian source of that. I might learn something from it, any reason for not sharing the sources?
