Yes it works with an entry in the user file
It works as well if I try it with the ntlm command from the radius server
So is my guess correct that I have to investigate further in the ntlm_auth command in the mschap module?
Not exactly. I think the whole samba setup needs to be examined. There are known issues with samba 3.2.x but I must say failure doesn't look like this in cases I have seen. If you are using that, try downgrading to 3.0.x which is known to work well. Ivan Kalik Kalik Informatika ISP
