Hi,
I can't seem to find any reference to making the contents of the clients.conf accessible via SQL. We are constantly making edits, and having to constantly reload the server doesn't make sense.
Pointers to where I missed putting it into MySQL, or if anyone knows how to would be appreciated.
Thanks, Tuc

initially started radius with (radiusd command).
then once more gave the cmmand (radiusd -x) output was as follows...
" Starting - reading configuration files ... Using deprecated naslist file. Support for this will go away soon. There appears to be another RADIUS server running on the authentication port 1812"
how restart the server in debug mode?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Happy new year! Have you simply tried /etc/init.d/freeradius reload ?? I'm using mysql database backend, so I don't have any trouble with this! Raghu V S a écrit :

please help me out of the issue. One possible option is to put your users into a Database - such as MySQL. Once there, the /etc/raddb/sql.conf module can be modified for local use on the database - you'll also need to reconfigure /etc/raddb/radiusd.conf to actually use the sql module. Make sure you have downloaded the whole of radius - and go through the documentation it comes with - and *read* it.
If a user is in a properly configured database, Radius does not need to be restarted whenever a customer is added or modified. Once set up like this - you can authenticate other services like SMTP (exim: incoming e-mail) and POP3 (IMAP) services from the same, single database - as well as a Web+php front end for customers to view/modify (change passwords) their own services - and use the info for your internal billing purposes. Radius may have been installed with dialupadmin - which may fit your requirements. http://www.freeradius.org/dialupadmin.html (I don't use it myself - already had something - and Gentoo on my side has it masked) -- . . ___. .__ Posix Systems - Sth Africa /| /| / /__ mje@posix.co.za - Mark J Elkins, SCO ACE, Cisco CCIE / |/ |ARK \_/ /__ LKINS Tel: +27 12 807 0590 Cell: +27 82 601 0496

Out of curiosity, what are you using for management if not dailup-admin? Regards, Liran.

Totally home grown - was MySQL and shell scripts, now LAMP. When we started (in 1992) - we used 'icradius' - which we hacked to work for us.. Freeradius is *so* much more configurable. The Database is the core - processes/apps like authentication via freeradius, MTA via exim - etc all hang on to the DB. Thoughts were the DB can become clustered and services can be replicated on to new hardware as existing hardware becomes too expensive to simply upgrade/replace.. however hardware seems to have kept up. With Radius - as many customers move to 'always on' access such as ADSL - actual numbers of radius authentication queries does not seem to be climbing so much - rather decreasing.
Regards, Liran.

You mean that you have developed a home-grown management interface for the whole users/groups/nas/accounting maintenance of the database server? Have you looked at daloradius? (http://sourceforge.net/projects/daloradius) Any feedback will be much appreciated. Regards, Liran.
Dear Alan, I want to check some thing. When i got the error ( There are no DB handles to use ) in my log file, will the request be discarded and the router must resend it again or the RADIUS will buffer the request and wait till a DB connection is free to use and then process the request ?
