Seriously. Can someone explain the thinking behind users reporting defects on out of date versions?
Simple. "I'm using a piece of software, and when I run into a problem, I ask a question about it".
Do they expect us to go back in time, to before we did that release and fix it, so they don't experience the issue in the present?
It's not that complicated. The failure is in not checking for themselves if the bug is fixed: Q: Hi, I'm using version X of software foo-bar, and it has a bug. What do I do? A: Uh... the release notes for version X+1 says "fixed the bug you're talking about".
What's the deal here? Why do people do this? OP isn't the first...
It's the belief that we're supporting the software we write. Coupled with the belief that it's easier to ask questions than to actually do anything yourself... Alan DeKok.
