Re: Freeradius error

      Paul et all,

First off, thank you for taking the time to help via email, I am a freeradius noob.  If I could buy your guys a round of beers, I would!

Second, I thought I misconfigured everything so I did a fresh install of freeradius.  I installed it via the steps below.
	sudo apt-get install freeradius
	sudo freeradius -CX 
		“appears to be ok” popped up.
	sudo vi clients.conf
		client private-network-1 {
			ipaddr = 35.21.xx.xx/24
			secret = testing123
	sudo vi users
		frank Cleartext-Password := “password"
	radtest frank password 127.0.0.1 0 testing123
		“Accept-Accept” popped up
	service freeradius start

After all that, I added a * to the softether server as that’s the wildcard for users in a radius server.  From what I understand, as long as the * is there, the radius server setting are configured in the softether server, then all should work.  However, I keep getting the below error.

Sat Jul  6 15:19:49 2019 : Error: Ignoring request to auth address * port 1812 bound to server default from
 unknown client 35.21.xx.xx port 37615 proto udp

Below is the output of the freeradius -X command.  After all this, I have no clue what I’m doing wrong.  If you don’t mind, could you take a look and see where I’m doing things wrong?  Thank you again!

That’s the localhost. You are on the server directly right?
Do you have a firewall running that is blocking the port?
Are you really wanting to use port 18120 and not 1812?
I’m just a newbie to FreeRadius. I haven’t even successfully made it work the way I want. I haven’t had time to formulate a question to this list as to what I’m trying to do.
