How to add new elements in database (fa-2.0.5)

Hello, I'm working on a master thesis in KTH in Sweden. In normal way, the radius server will receive the EAP package, and check the user name and password. If it's authenticated, and return something, such as a 1 to open service, or 0 to reject request. My task is, create two elements in database (we use mysql in opensuse). One is max bandwidth, other one is current bandwidth (or request bandwidth). And we add one data, request bandwidth, in EAP package. And in the programme, we gonna do, 1, receive EAP, and get request bandwidth. 2, compare it with max bandwidth, if large, then goto 4. 3, return this request bandwidth. then goto 5. 4, return some error. 5, finish, and loop to 1 And for the max bandwidth in the database, we need to create it at the first time when the program runs. Do you have any suggestion for me about which files I should focus on? Thanks a lot! BR Patrick

Version 2 - lowercase in MySQL schema.sql

Hi List, I'm the author of Hotcakes Hotspot Manager. It is a LAMP application which includes the MySQL tables used with FreeRADIUS. In version 2.0.5 the schema tables in 'etc/raddb/sql/mysql/schema.sql' all has lower-case names for the columns. Was this a conscious decision, and will it remain like this in future versions? If so I'd like to correct my program so it reflects this new convention. Many thanks

Switching version control systems?

CVS is starting to show it's age. I've been using mercurial for a while, as it's very easy to use. After some effort, I managed to get familiar with git, too. Git seems to be better. In some ways, it's absolutely horrid, especially for people used to CVS. Git introduces a few extra things into the CVS workflow that are confusing, annoying, and pointless. Until you see the benefits. Branching with git is... trivial. Merging between branches is... trivial. Having multiple checkouts, one for each potential change is also easy. So... I've set up a preliminary "git" server: http://git.freeradius.org/ It allows anonymous git checkouts, and anonymous CVS checkouts. There's a short "howto" for people who want to try using git. The source was taken by copying the CVS files from cvs.freeradius.org, and then importing them into git: $ git cvsimport -km -d /home/aland/cvs -C freeradius-server.git radiusd I'm inclined stop using CVS. It's just no longer part of my work flow. Git is. CVS commit access can continue as normal (to the new repository), for anyone with an SSH key. Git commit access can also be set up. For now, the old CVS server is still online. I'm inclined to *not* make any final decision until I get some feedback, and until others try the new system. Comments? Alan DeKok.

checkrad not called after upgrade to 2.x and virtual servers.

List, I have a fairly standard implementation other than a custom checkrad script and virtual servers. Today when debugging some simultaneous use issues I discovered that radiusd isn't calling checkrad and is logging this when I run in debug mode: checkrad: Unknown NAS x.x.x.x, not checking Because radius thinks it doesn't know about the nas it doesn't bother calling checkrad, however the nas is defined in the clients.conf: client x.x.x.x { secret = <secret> shortname = x.x.x.x password = <snmp ro key> nastype = cisco_snmp virtual_server = dsl } I couldn't find anything in the documentation that refers to a change in checkrad behavior when dealing with virtual servers, so I'm assuming that if the client is defined and the dsl virtual server can find it and authenticate customers against it then shouldn't the client.c code also find it and pass session and username to checkrad?
