feedback on building latest branch_1_1 on sles10

Hi developers! As it seems that 1.1.5 will be released soon (see below ;-)) here some feedback on building the latest cvs branch_1_1. If you don't need ('cause you do this on your own often enough) please let me know, i don't want to steal your time, just want to contribute (and if it's only some testing ...) So what i did: Just pulled branch_1_1 from cvs and tried to build on SLES10 (32bit), using the suse/freeradius.spec i found to things: Version: 1.1.3 shouldn't that be at least 1.1.4? the following line refuses the building as the file "otppasswd.sample" is not found: %attr(640,-,radiusd) /etc/raddb/otppasswd.sample after commenting out this line the build runs without problems. installing the rpm-package: i got a working freeradius server using ldap (auth,autz), mysql (auth,acct), rlm_perl, eap with usage of realms seems to run without problems. so, great work, go on! ;-) if i can help in some way (testing etc., can do this on sles10, debian on macosx if needed) please let me know, otherwise just ignore this message ;-) regards markus Zitat von Alan DeKok <aland(a)deployingradius.com>: > Bjarni Hardarson wrote: >> Alan DeKok wrote: >>> I've tested & committed a fix that will be in 1.1.5. >>> >> Thanks. >> >> Do you know when 1.1.5 will be released? > > Soon, I think. Hia, I'm working on a an client server application which uses freeradius in back end and a custom build finger print scanner at front, I have to develope a customized VPN Client to dial in to a network, would you please take time and help me find some docs and information on this issue. my problems are: 1- which protocol I have to use and how, I think and radius docs said chap is very good for this purpose but how I can use it to send fingerprint encrypted feature to my server 2- how can I get the feature in the back, have I to customize freeradius core engine ? 3- it's better to use ldap beside my server or mysql is enough ? -- Kindly Regards Davood Firoozian Proud Developer Ozino Group http://www.ozino.com

Here's the scenario in question: (*) A new authentication 'rlm_something' module is created by a party outside of FreeRadius.org. (*) The module is distributed as part of the aforementioned commercial AAA server distribution (*) In order to streamline deployment for the customers, FreeRadius (unmodified) is also distributed Questions: (*) Can this be legally done? (*) If not, what would need to happen to make the above scenario feasible? (*) If the above rlm_ module depends on some external SDKs (unrelated to FreeRadius) and its source is contributed to FreeRadius, does the source to the SDK need to be contributed as well? (*) In general, what is the process for contributing an rlm_ module and incorporating it in the 'standard' FreeRadius distribution? New FreeRADIUS module: rlm_backcounter

Hi folks, I've finished next FreeRADIUS module, rlm_backcounter, which can be used to implement various end-user limits basing on counting resource usage in defined time period. Seems like classic monthly bandwidth usage limits, eh? Not really, it has a bit more to offer :-). Main differences to the classic approach are: counters count back, they can be resetted for each user individually and each user is given two counters - one being periodically resetted by the module itself, and one which it can only decrease (a "prepaid" counter). New dynamic IP pools module

Hi group, Here is a new FreeRADIUS module which provides dynamic IP addresses. It uses some new approaches and IMHO has greater functionality in some areas than already existing solutions. More information: http://projects.asn.pl/freemods/wiki/rlm_netvim_pools Source code (last test with v. 1.1.3): svn co http://svn.asn.pl/freemods/trunk/rlm_netvim_pool The code has been in production use since 2005, so I would consider it quite stable. BTW, I would like to submit a new vendor-specific RADIUS dictionary to the FreeRADIUS project: http://svn.asn.pl/misc/freeradius/dictionary.asn We, guys at ASN, develop a Linux distribution for network access servers - Lintrack [1] - and we use this dictionary for functionality implemented in our system. I would like to thank the FreeRADIUS development team for their great work. It's one of the best coded servers implemented in C I've ever seen (at least the core ;-)).
