Hi, (switching to devel) (for the benefit of those who don't have the FC16 file at hand, original is attached) ah, that looks like a good start already. Some things of interest maybe: ExecStartPre=/usr/sbin/radiusd -C ExecStart=/usr/sbin/radiusd -d /etc/raddb The config check doesn't explicitly set the config dir, while startup does. if $raddbdir != /etc/raddb, the config check will test a different configuration than what startup uses. On FC, you may simply want to set that in sync (with FR's built-in knowledge where to find raddb, maybe simply leave out the -d on ExecStart?), but for the general distribution, we could include it into the "auto" build system so that all paths are filled in with what is set during configure time. Would affect PIDFile=/var/run/radiusd/radiusd ExecStartPre=-/bin/chown -R radiusd.radiusd /var/run/radiusd ExecStartPre=/usr/sbin/radiusd -C ExecStart=/usr/sbin/radiusd -d /etc/raddb ExecReload=/usr/sbin/radiusd -C All these work on explicit paths. I'm not much into autohell, what I meant is that there should be some kind of "radiusd.service.in" which expands PIDFile=${localstatedir}/run/radiusd/radiusd ExecStartPre=-/bin/chown -R radiusd.radiusd ${localstatedir}/run/radiusd ExecStartPre=/usr/sbin/radiusd -C ExecStart=${sbindir}/radiusd ExecReload=${sbindir}/radiusd -C during "make" to the values that were found out/set during configure. Persistent session caching

Remove with_ntdomain_hack in rlm_mschap?

Does this config option make any sense? Shouldn't it always be on? The only thing it controls is the username to feed into the MS-CHAP challenge generation, and AFAICT from RFC 2759, we should *always* ignore DOM\ for that. Certainly windows does. I found this out today - if you have "with_ntdomain_hack = no", ticking the "Use my windows credentials" box for wired/wireless 802.1x login doesn't work with a default FR config. Perhaps we should remove it for 3.x?

Hi, I am a newbie to FreeRADIUS and I have run into a problem during the setup. I have spent some time on researching for an answer online, but I got no luck. I have described the problem as below. Git repo commits re-done?

Did something happen to the main git repo around July 10th ish? Testing 3.0/master

So, I've just compiled up the current "master", and a few things stand out. Using my existing 2.1.12 config: 1. EAP-TTLS/MSCHAP doesn't seem to work any more; the MS-CHAP challenge/response are wrong. PEAP works fine. Haven't looked into this yet. 2. rlm_eap_tls now mandates "private_key_password" even if the key is not encrypted on disk. You can specify anything - but you must specify it. Behaviour change, but not particularly onerous. 3. Fast Session resumption seems to give a segfault - request_finish calls pairfree on process.c:1085 and the value seems to be corrupt. The backtrace is a bit useless, since most of the values are optimised out (grr gcc) but I will try to get more info. Will follow up with more as I figure out the cause(s)

EAP-TLS & authorize & LDAP -> non-sane default

Hello, some admins who deploy EAP-TLS brought an interesting note to my attention (can't actually verify it, as I don't have their sophisticated setup)... The story goes like that - EAP-TLS does not have inner EAP, so there is no inner virtual server for it - if you want to authorization checks for the user, it has to happen on outer server (say, ask LDAP for some user attributes) - the default ldap filter expression uses (Stripped) User-Name - User-Name in EAP-TLS can be set arbitrarily by the end user as outer identity -> FreeRADIUS by default performs authorisation checks with an unvetted, user-supplied string So, if John Doe has a valid certificate, but is not authorized for network access, but he knows that Jane Donk *is* authorized, he could set anon ID = Jane Donk, and use his own certificate. authorize passes with Jane's User-Name, and authentication passes with John's proper certificate. That's all no tragedy; after all, it's just the *default* behaviour of the LDAP module, and can be changed. People may want to "channel bind" the two values on their own by enforcing User-Name == TLS-Client-Cert-Common-Name or so. I'm just wondering if we could by default ship a config which would prefer cert content, such as Common Name, over unvetted information so as to have a more sane default. I'm guessing that changing the ldap module's "filter" config item should do, from filter = "(uid=%{%{Stripped-User-Name}:-%{User-Name}})" to filter = "(uid=%{%{TLS-Client-Cert-Common-Name}:-%{%{Stripped-User-Name}:-%{User-Name}}))" (uh, I'm sure I got those curly braces wrong... bear with me...) That expression would do the same as before in all cases except when EAP types with Client TLS certificates are used, and would only then use the CN. Is there any sense in what I write? We've started to perform static source code analysis on things we ship in the interest of trying to improve quality. We've been very impressed with the Coverity tools, they do an excellent job of finding problems. Coverity is not open source but they support open source projects by providing access to open source projects to some of their tools (you might consider registering with Covertiy). We have a Coverity license and have been granted permission to share our scan results with our upstream open source projects. We have just completed a scan on version 2.1.12 and I wanted to share the results. They are attached. Not every item flagged by the scan is meaningful, but we've learned by running the scans on our own code quite a bit of what is reported were actually undiscovered problems worth fixing. I recognize the timing would have been better if the scan had been performed prior to the release but we're still in the process of getting Coverity integrated into our tool chain. I wonder if the problems cropping up in 3.0 might be identified by a Coverity scan ... Problem with easyhotspot & freeradius

Hi there, I was configuring easyhotspot with freeradius and freeradius is running fine but i'm getting the error while trying to run easyhotspot in the browser. The error are as below: A PHP Error was encountered Severity: 8192 Message: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated Filename: database/DB.php Line Number: 82 Can someone help on this as i have tried to fix without any luck. regards, Kambey
