So what I did is upgrade to libtool and ltdl 1.5.22. The current libtool and ltdl is GNU + changes. This is difficult. I rearranged our autoconf stuff (ever so slightly :-)) to allow drop-in of the untouched originals. That's why I asked about the change the ltdl.c -- it'd be better to change our code than to require changes in ltdl.c each time we upgrade. I doubt upgrading libtool and ltdl has any real software effect, other than allowing R= to work. But being able to use unmodified sources does have a good maintenance effect. >> 3. I will say that I'm surprised that a long list of dependencies is an issue -- what system today (that we care about) doesn't have either binary svn or an easy way (yum, apt-get, etc) to get dependencies? I'd be willing to host a p4 server on a trial basis, and possibly even long term. -frank

proxy_fail_type attribute

Hi, I just get the last CVS update, and I discovered a "hidden" attribute in mainconfig.c, name "proxy_fail_type". By reading the source code, my understanding is that setting this attribute to "fail" (for example) in proxy.conf, and setting the value "fail" for Post-Proxy-Type in dictionary.freeradius.internal, will allow FreeRADIUS to execute a module when the proxy of a request failed (no response from server or other cases). My 1st question: - Am I right (or near to the truth)? I saw that this was not shipped into 1.1.2. But this feature appeared by the end of 2004. So my 2nd and 3rd questions are: - Has anyone used or is anyone using this feature on production deployement? - Is this feature planned to be shipped in 1.2.x? If I'm right about the behaviour, we may plan to deploy this feature (and therefore test it). So this leads me to another question: what is the best to do? Take last stable release and patch it to get the functionnality or take a CVS snapshot? Thank you in advance. Geof.

Hello all: I tried to install FR on RHEL4.0 and the database is sybase ASE15.0. Lots of problems occured and a bug was found. Version of my using FR is 1.0.5. I edited the file ~/src/modules/rlm_sql/stable to support sybase, and configure'd and make'ed. Error occured, as following: sql_sybase.c:767: error: conflicting types for 'sql_error' sql_sybase.c:262: error: previous implicit declaration of 'sql_error' was here Weeks ago, I installed the same version of FR on the platform of sun sparc solaris 5.8 and the database is sybase ASE12.5.3. I do remember that I did not come up against this problem. I edited the file ~/src/modules/rlm_sql/drivers/rlm_sql_sybase/sql_sybase.c, as following: #include <ctpublic.h> #include "rlm_sql.h" + static char *sql_error(SQLSOCK *sqlsocket, SQL_CONFIG *config); typedef struct rlm_sql_sybase_sock { CS_CONTEXT *context; Things goes fine this time. :-)

OK, after a couple of days battling libtool and autoconf, I have this working (on Solaris and Linux). Questions: 1. Can I just check this into the 1.1.0 branch and then upintegrate to HEAD (later)? It'll be easier that way for me. Also, in consideration of the increasing complexity here, I'd suggest closing off 1.1 at this point, except for security fixes if there are any before 1.2 is available. I don't see why 1.2 shouldn't start fresh from HEAD. 2. What is libltdl/ltdl.c#1.37 about? Is there a bug that I can reproduce to see the problem? 3. CVS and branching is pitiful.
