Restructuring of CVS head
by Alan DeKok 30 May '06

30 May '06

I'm going to move some of the header files in src/include around. Having almost everything in src/include/libradius.h is getting frustrating, and it's hard to track dependencies. My thoughts: - src/include/*.h is header for src/lib/*.c - updating hash table implementikon to avoid hash collisions - adding src/lib/packet.c There's a lock of socket & RADIUS packet list handling done in the server & radclient. This should be in library routines, to help with code re-use. - with support for 2-byte attributes, this becomes easier: http://lists.freeradius.org/pipermail/freeradius-users/2004-September/03622… i.e. a LOT easier. Now that there's an sql ippool module, the combination is starting to look interesting. Alan DeKok.

1.1.2 release?
by Peter Nixon 26 May '06

26 May '06

Hi Guys What is left to go before the 1.1.2 release? There are a number of issues building 1.1.1 on various newer linux releases, and added issues with 64bit which are fixed in the 1.1.x cvs. Is there any chance of a new point release soon? I am running the 1.1.x cvs branch in production for over a month now on a bunch of operon servers under pretty heavy load and no problems so far. Authorization in EAP-TLS module
by Michal Prochazka 25 May '06

25 May '06

Hello, I sent here an small enhancement of EAP-TLS module. Now I would like to rewrite it to be more clear. Before I will do it, I would like to ask if this enhancement has a chance to be added into the freeradius? The think is that in authentication part of EAP-TLS will add new pair into the request which will contain whole certificate. I will write new authorization part of EAP-TLS which will work similar like the enhancement I've created with small changes: whole certificate will be sent into the environ of the script. After that the script can decide on any field in the certificate. -- Michal Prochazka // michalp(a)ics.muni.cz Supercomputing Center Brno Institute of Computer Science Masaryk University Botanicka 68a, 60200 Brno, CZ CESNET z.s.p.o. IPv6 constructs

Hi, What's the current philosophy with V6 structures referenced on systems without v6 support? Can they be #ifdef'd out? Looking through the current CVS build, there are some #iddef's for v6 structures in some places and other where structures just reference ones in the handful of missing.h headers. Can I submit a bunch patches that add #ifdef's to make the code compile under non-v6 cygwin hosts; it's currently broken? Or is this considered too crufty? Cheers, Chris -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Version: 7.1.392 / Virus Database: 268.6.1/344 - Release Date: 19/05/2006

Small bug in rlm_sql_log
by Guy Fraser 18 May '06

18 May '06

I discovered that if you use a file name like : path = ${radacctdir}/%Y/%m/sqlrelay-%Y%m%d You get an error if the path does not exist. A simple remedy is to configure auth_log to put files in the same directory, because it will create the directories. I will look into adding the functionality into this module to allow creation of the required directories but may not have time right away. TTFN

freeradius with TTLS - MSCHAPV2 authentication
by sumi thra 18 May '06

18 May '06

Hey All, Im using the D-Link client card with the odyssey client manager. Im trying to connect to the wlan configured with 802.1x authetication & the radius server used for authetication is freeradius-1.1.1. Eap-Type : TTLS Auth-Type : MS-CHAPV2 When the MU sends an access request, the radius server replies back with the Access-Reject code ( 3 ). Im not able to figure out what the problem is.. ?? Does the freeradius support this eap & auth types ?? Note : Im using the default eap.conf file with smaller changes. Like default eap type is changed to TTLS. And default auth type for TTLS is mschapv2. Please let me know if you have any idea. Thanks Sumi

I am using freeRadius in project of Voip in the system AAA. And I use with NAS the GnuGk, the OpenSER and Asterisk. GnuGK - Authorize / Authenticate / Account Openser - Authorize / Authenticate and I am putting Account Asterisk - I am putting Account But I don`t like put each one in the same table - table raddacct. I Would like insert GnuGK in table radacct, Openser in table radacctser and Asterisk in table radacctasterisk . Openser and Asterisk send a flag with a information TYPE-NAS in yours Account with Radius. GnuGK not, but if TYPE-NAS null, NAS is GnuGK. But I don`t know like create this condicional in FreeRadius. If possible, I would like if some one help me. ok? very thanks, Thiago Resende.

compile & install on FC4 x86_64
by FreeRadius Devel 15 May '06

15 May '06

hello, I am trying to install freeradius cvs version downloaded on 2006-01-14 on Fedora CORE 4 installed on a dual AMD Opteron system. fedora is updated as of 2006-01-14. I have have found two problems and I do not know if they are fedora, x86_64 or freeradius related. 1. after: # ./configure --with-large-files --with-udpfromto # make I get the error: gcc: /usr/lib/libsnmp.so: No such file or directory gmake[4]: *** [radiusd] Error 1 gmake[4]: Leaving directory `.../freeradius-060114/src/main' there is no file "/usr/lib/libsnmp.so" but there is a file "/usr/lib64/libsnmp.so" is the configure script suppose to find the 32bit version or the 64bit version ? after a link from /usr/lib64/libsnmp.so to /usr/lib/libsnmp.so freeradius compiles and installs 2. after running "# radiusd -X" I get the following error: Starting - reading configuration files ... read_config_files: reading dictionary Errors reading dictionary: dict_init: /usr/local/share/freeradius/dictionary.ascend[1228]: dict_addvalue: Duplicate value name Route-IPX-No for attribute X-Ascend-Route-IPX Segmentation fault identical configuration & installation works on FC4/i386 in file "src/lib/dict.c", function "DICT_VALUE *dict_valbyname(int attr, const char *name)" line "hash = lrad_hash_update(&attr, sizeof(&attr), hash);" I think that "sizeof(&attr)" should be "sizeof(attr)" because sizeof(int) != sizeof(&int) on 64bit. is there a compile option hat would instruct the compiler to consider "int" as being a 64bit integer ? thanks, Razvan Radu

Check the subject and issuer in the EAP-TLS
by Michal Prochazka 12 May '06

12 May '06

Hello, I'm new to this list and I'm playing with freeradius for about two weeks. I have noticed that there is no possibility to check the subject and issuer of the client certificate. My idea is to use EAP-TLS authN, but allow only some of certificates issued by concrete CA. Two options which are available in EAP-TLS config are not suitable for me. I don't want to revoke the certs and the RE cannot be also used. That's why I created small patch to the freeradius 1.1.0. I've added new option check_script in config of EAP, where can be defined path to the script or application which is executed after successuf TLS authentication. The script/application will recieve in environ variables request packet with two new value pairs: X509_SUBJECT and X509_ISSUER. The EAP-TLS module decide on the returned value of the script/app if the request will be discarded or allowed. I'm open for every remark and enhancement of this patch. I will be glad if this part of code or something similar could be in some of next release of the freeradius. As I see in the user mailing list, there are other people which asking for similar functionality from the freeradius. I'm runnig patched freeradius in our organization and till now works Patch is attached. request_list.c:rl_free_entry() bad pthread_kill()?
by Frank Cusack 10 May '06

10 May '06

What is the intent of the pthread_kill() in rl_free_entry()? AFAICT, child_pid is not in fact a *child* pid, it's a thread id. And in fact, in order for pthread_kill() to work at all, this *must* be the case. So the reason for my question is that sending SIGKILL to any thread in the process does NOT terminate that thread, it terminates the entire process. The only way to force a [POSIX] thread to terminate is to use cancellation, which is complex and would require significant updates to all modules if the intent of this code is to abort any current processing "now"-ish. -frank
