I'm new at this and I was wondering if anyone can help me out configuring
free radius for mac address authentication
I have linux fedora 3 and one lan wifi.
I need to install a server freeradius for mac address authentication (only,
without certificates).
I have a LAN with servers windows and with servers linux with dinamic
IP.It's a LAN ethernet (switches Cisco 10/100/1000).
I have windows clients with wifi and I need autentificación for mac (only).
You can help me to configure the server
Thank you
I add in clients.conf
client 192.168.0.6 {
secret = passecret
shortname = ap
nastype = other
}
and in users
000F20-93DD75 Auth-TYPE := Local, User-Password == "passecret"
in the linux server :

installed.
Thats's what it says from what I can see at a quick glance.
Unfortunately I've got to rely on what/how our IT guys set up the machine
as I don't have root access.
> Does it compile at all?
Nope, The first file it tries to compile fails complaining that I should
use sys/socket.h, but there is no sys directory available at the moment.

Tariq,
Like you say, you can use:
Client 172.0.0.0/8 {
Secret = secret
Shortname = 172-network
}

All,
Have just moved department within work and have been told that I am to work
with freeradius as a digest authentication tool for SIP URIs.
I've already bought the RADIUS O'Reilly book and am slowly going through
it. (It seems a bit out of date though ?)
We are going to use 2 different platforms running Linux RedHat 9-3 and
LynxOS 4.
Just wondered if any of you users have managed to get it running on a Lynx
OS .
I've managed to get the latest (Version-1.0.4) compiled on Linux, but when
I run the configure script on Lynx it seems that many of the
header files can't be found by it. Applying make confirms this as it says
it can't find sys/socket.h.
Is there a tweek that configure needs ?
I'm trying to get our IT admin guys to set the box up with a full set of
/usr/include's but it'll take a bit of time.
If there is a lot of work to get freeradius working on Lynx then that will
affect my timescales as I've got to get this done ASAP before October'ish.
Not sure if this message should be on the users or developers mailing list,
but since I'm a newbie I'll start with this one.
(Configure outputs for Linux and Lynx can be seen below)
Outputs include any xterm warnings and Failures also at the bottom of the
dump.
Cheers in advance.

Hi everyone,
I'm having a problem with freeradius 1.0.4 configuration. I configured it to
work with PAP, CHAP, MS-CHAPv1, and MS-CHAPv2. Now I would like to work with
EAP-MD5 but I have always the same response:

I really don't know what to do. I'm almost sure it's the radiusd.conf or
eap.con files. Can anybody help me?? Thank you!!

is it possible specify IP ranges in the clients.conf? or multiple IPs for
each client{} section?
for example:
client 1.2.3.0/23 {
secret = shared_secret
shortname = abc.def.ghi.jkl
nastype = other
}
or
client 1.2.3.1 {
secret = shared_secret
shortname = abc.def.ghi.jkl
nastype = other
identical_clients = 1.2.3.2, 1.2.3.3, 10.11,12.13
}
at the moment i'm using a script to generate large sections of the
clients.conf.

I'm having trouble setting up the noresetcounter(Max-All-Session). I'm
running freeradius 1.0.4(Debian). I have compiled and added the
rlm_sqlcounter.so files to the proper folder in Debian, and freeradius
-X shows the module starting up(I have renamed it "hotspotcounter"). If
you would like to see the full output of either the request or startup
let me know. I'd really like to tackle this thing, so any help/pointers
are appreciated.
freeradius -X |grep sqlcounter

sqlcounter: query = "SELECT SUM(AcctSessionTime) FROM radacct WHERE

Module: Instantiated sqlcounter (hotspotcounter)
I keep getting this result on debug(NTRadping and Chillispot):
rlm_sqlcounter: Entering module authorize code
rlm_sqlcounter: Could not find Check item value pair
Here is what is in radcheck database(00-0B-6A-65-95-B8 is the username):
699 00-0B-6A-65-95-B8 User-Password := password
700 00-0B-6A-65-95-B8 Max-All-Session := 1800
Here is sqlcounter.conf:
sqlcounter hotspotcounter {
counter-name = Max-All-Session-Time
check-name = Max-All-Session
sqlmod-inst = sql
key = User-Name
reset = never
query = "SELECT SUM(AcctSessionTime) FROM radacct WHERE
UserName='%{%k}'"
}
Here is radius.conf:
modules {
$INCLUDE ${confdir}/sql.conf
$INCLUDE ${confdir}/sqlcounter.conf
}
authorize{
sql
hotspotcounter
}
Thanks!
