As we're working to finalize v4 (real soon now!) one question which came up is MongDB.
The Mongo team is currently looking into creating a fully async API for Mongo. We would need to use this in v4 in order to increase scalability. If we don't have such an API, then the Mongo drivers would be significantly slower than other databases.

All,
I've got authentication working nicely with MSCHAP, but now I'd like to
only allow users that are members of a certain AD group.
I would prefer to have this happen only when requests come from a
specific client (wireless access point). In this case the idea is to
have users only be able to get wireless access when they're in a
specific AD group.
How can I do this in freeradius?

Hi there,
I want to make some additional checks for RadSec connections.
After I’ve set `check_client_connections` to `yes`, the server is handling the connection over the auth type "Autz-Type New-TLS-Connection”. So far so good but after the connection has accepted, no further traffic is reaching the radius server.
I can see in packet captures that Access-Requests are send to the server and on the server netstat is also showing that packets are going to the socket which FreeRADIUS opens but only the queue is getting higher and never processed.
After seeing this behaviour, of course also tested the behaviour with the default config. Just enabled tls, changed the `check_client_connections` and added a ip wildcard to the radsec clients.
Since I haven’t found any open GitHub issue or something on this list I assume either no one is using the functionality or there is something I’ve overlooked.
The radius server is running as docker container but that shouldn't make any difference.

Can I use diffrent root CA certificates while dynamic loading certificate chains?

Hi, we have a case that, with multi-tenancy, there will be multiple CA
certificates in our FreeRadius server, so we need to load the certificate
chains dynamically. But when I use the statements below, I can't include
the CA certificates in the certificate files I set. The TLS-Session-Cert-File
looks like it is only for the server certificate and intermediate CA
certificates. Is there any chance of dynamic loading certificate chains
with root CA certificates? Thanks.

A few weeks back, I used FreeRADIUS 3.0.26 on Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS before upgrading to FreeRADIUS 3.2.4 (NetworkRADIUS packages). Everything works great so far, except two attributes are missing in our logs since then: TLS-Session-Version and TLS-Session-Cipher-Suite.
My /etc/freeradius/mods-available/linelog configuration looked like this on FreeRADIUS 3.0.x:

The certificate with which I connect to WiFi (user1) is on the CRL list
as revoked. Therefore, I expect the server to reject revoked
certificates and those issued by a CA other than mine.

Dear community, I am asking for help. I've been struggling with
configuring Freeradius in my home lab for several days. And I've reached
a wall that I can't overcome.
What does the architecture look like:
AD Controller dc1.lab.lan
Freeradius 3.0.21 (Debian 11 bullseye)
Unifi Controller (on Debian)
AP Unifi
CA (using xCA - issuing certificates manually)
Everything is on one local network 192.168.80.x/24, Gateway 192.168.80.1
DNS 192.168.80.21 (dc1).
And so the goal is to authorize users using AD credentials or
certificates issued from xCA. Certificates in pem12 (for android). I
tested on Android 9 and 13.
What works - user authorization using login and password from AD.

My main problem is the CRL not working.
I made a combined rootCA+CRL certificate in pem.
I deleted the .cnf files in /etc/freeradius/3.0/certs because I don't
want to use an external CA (xCA).
I only left bootstrap and dh. I did this before turning on freeradius
C_rehash /etc/freeradius/3.0/certs
New files (links) have appeared.
sudo freeradius -XC => Configuration appears to be OK
Then start freeradius -X => shows no errors

Some questions you could maybe answer me:
1. The total numbers are an incremented total since “FreeRADIUS-Stats-Start-Time”, is that correct?
2. Based on which additional value could I calculate the percentage of successful RADIUS “tries” (“FreeRADIUS-Total-Access-Accepts” and ???)?
a) There is a massive difference between “FreeRADIUS-Total-Access-Accepts” and “FreeRADIUS-Total-Access-Requests” or “FreeRADIUS-Total-Auth-Responses” and why is that?
b) somehow the values for “FreeRADIUS-Total-Access-Accepts” and “FreeRADIUS-Total-Access-Rejects” should somehow correlate with any of the other total values; or I am completely wrong about this?
3. Concerning the Proxy-statistics:
a) Why are the values for FreeRADIUS-Total-Proxy-Access-Accepts and FreeRADIUS-Total-Proxy-Access-Rejects always = 0?

Hello, I am using Rest module and there is no problem with functionality.
However, I am experiencing encoding issues.
Two reproduction scenarios can be presented.
1. When the data item of the Rest module is directly specified
: In this case, there is no problem. This is because the encoding process
does not appear to be taking place.
★ 2. When the data item of Rest Module is not specified ★
Several Attributes that can be transmitted (set as default) are included in
the Data item.
And the items that are decided to be transferred are processed as follows.
(19) rest: Encoding attribute "User-Name"
(19) rest: Encoding attribute "NAS-IP-Address"
...
As a result of the transfer, my Rest Server received data encoded in
ISO-8859-1 format.
My server needs to work with UTF-8. I could decompose the received data
into bytes in ISO-8859-1 format and then reassemble them into UTF-8, but I
think there is a better way.
How can I specify the encoding format of the data sent to the REST module?
