OK Alan, i`m not advanced freeradius user`s, i`m trying to learn this. I just need help to configure, you can help me ? My freeradius running ok, not show error messages, but not work.... The client (AP) associated in radius, my final client (notebook) associated on AP, but....nothing happens... I search any documents about this, but anyone work. What do you need to help me ? and you can do ? I need this to my job, we are a ISP, and implanting radius, to authenticate clients.... Freeradius doesn't detect EAP when authenticating against MySQL

Hi, I'm trying to use my existing freeradius server and mysql database to add 802.1X PEAP functionality to my wireless network. Currently, it works great authenticating my cisco device logins. However, after setting the peap stuff up, when I try to log in with a user on the wireless, it -seems to get the wrong auth-type, and fails. I've read a bunch of things saying that the Auth-Type aatribute shouldn't need to be set and that it should figure out that it's EAP by itself. Hi guys, I am trying to establish a secure connection between freeradius and a Novell eDirectory LDAP server. After configuring LDAP in radiusd.conf it seemed to work, almost: rlm_ldap: ldap_get_conn: Checking Id: 0 rlm_ldap: ldap_get_conn: Got Id: 0 rlm_ldap: attempting LDAP reconnection rlm_ldap: (re)connect to 192.168.1.5:636, authentication 0 rlm_ldap: setting TLS mode to 1 rlm_ldap: setting TLS CACert File to /usr/local/etc/raddb/ldap_ca_cert.pem rlm_ldap: setting TLS Require Cert to demand rlm_ldap: starting TLS rlm_ldap: ldap_start_tls_s() rlm_ldap: could not start TLS Operations error rlm_ldap: (re)connection attempt failed Because I don't know how to get logs from the eDirectory side, I recorded the traffic between both hosts and saw that the TLS handshake had been done, both mashines had exchanged cipher key and begun to send data. After 3 or 4 packets the LDAP server sent a "encrypted alert" and disconnected. Since these data are encrypted I could not see what happened indeed. My question: is it possible to get more debug info from the freeradius side? If yes, how? Thanks, Rickan

attribute value length limit

Hi you all, I've got an LDAP attribute mapped into user-password RADIUS attribute. This attribute is RSA-ciphered so RADIUS have to deciphered it when it arrives in order to use it for authentication. The problem arise when I try to use an RSA key pretty much longer than 1400 bytes, because the resulting value exceed the 253 bytes RADIUS specification length limit. My questions are: Is this size limit mandatory even when this RADIUS attribute is never put on the wire? If so, could anybody point a way which allow me to use longer RSA keys? Thanks in advance. Novell Integratoion

I am trying to get free radius to authenticate users with my Novell server. I know that I am close, but I don't quite have it. I can see that my access points are sending MAC address to the radius server as the user name, that MAC is then authenticated through my users file and passed to Novell. the Mac sent to Novell as the uid and is then accepted or rejected. I know this, because I created a user in Novell with my MAC as the user name and the user was authenticated successfully. I then changed the ldap filter to read: filter = "(radiusCheckItem=%{Stripped-User-Name:-%{User-Name}})" and then I placed my MAC address in the radusCheckItem field in Novell for my Novell record. I can not get authenticated this way, I receive the following error: rlm_ldap: performing search in o=dist-155, with filter (radiusCheckItem=0016cb-b64f93) rlm_ldap: object not found or got ambiguous search result rlm_ldap: search failed I clearly have something missing, or I am confused about something. 802.1x machine authentication patch help

I have read your message (http://lists.cistron.nl/pipermail/freeradius-users/2005-November/048576 .html related to the error when the radius is trying to authenticate in AD and I am getting exactly the same message. Possible FreeBSD Jail problem, or other bug in/with FreeRADIUS 2.0.0-pre2

I have an issue with getting my new FreeRADIUS 2.0.0-pre2 server to proxy requests to my old production RADIUS servers. I would appreciate any assistance you might have the time to provide. I am recieving the replies from the old server, but freeradius is throwing them out for some reason. I didn't notice anything more detailed in the radiusd -X output, so here are the log entries. I decided to simplify and try just using radclient from the new server and leaving the FreeRADIUS daemon out of it. That also gets replies but radclient throws them out because it doesn't think it sent the request. In the archive, the only prolems I have found with the "radclient: received response to request we did not send." error are due to the reply coming from a different IP or port than that to which the request was sent. That doesn't seem to be the case here. As far as I've been able to tell, all the information appears to be the same between the request and the reply. The new FreeRADIUS server is running under a FreeBSD 6.2 jail configuration, halfway between a chroot and a virtual machine. I don't suspect the system's firewall, but ... There is a stateful firewall on the jail host system, without NAT or redirection. Each jail has it's own routable IP address. I suspect that the jail has a lot to do with the problem. If it can't be worked around, I'm in trouble.
